COBIS Games for Abu Dhabi 2014 - The Rules and Organisation
Rules of the Games Who can participate? Each Team: 15 x Year 5 and 6 pupils. Set ratio of 8 boys & 7 girls required per team. The dates for this year are children must be born: Yr.5: 1st Sept 2003 – 31st Aug 2004 Yr.6: 1st Sept 2002 – 31st Aug 2003 Any children who are in Yr5 and Yr6 but outside the dates above CANNOT ENTER the Games. Medals and Trophies information Swimming In the swimming event the competitors who finish first, second and third in each final will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the presentation at the end of the each day. Basketball & Football Medals will be given out to the teams of 1st & 2nd place in both the Main and Plate competitions. The winning school in both the Main and Plate competitions will also receive a trophy. The COBIS ‘Fair Play’ award (new) will be given to the school that over the three days of competition has competed with the best spirit, sportsmanship and camaraderie. At the end of the 3 days the school with the most overall combined points from swimming, basketball and football will win the 2014 COBIS Games Champions trophy. |
Cobis Games Points system
Basketball Group stage; 1st place 40 points, 2nd 30 points, 3rd 20 points, 4th 10 points, Second stage Main winners 60 points, runners-up 50 points, losing semi-finalists (main) 40 points. Plate winners – 30 points, runners up 20 points, losing semi-finalist (plate) 10 points. Swimming Individual finals 1st place 8 points, 2nd 7 points, 3rd 6 points, 4th 5 points, 5th 4 points, 6th 3 points, 7th 2 points, 8th 1 point. Relay finals double points: 1st place 16, 2nd 14, 3rd 12, 4th 10, 5th 8, 6th 6, 7th 4, 8th 2 points. Schools will then be ranked by total number of points gained. The final rankings will hold the following points that go towards the overall competition: 1st 200, 2nd 190, 3rd 180, 4th 170, 5th 160, 6th 150, 7th 140, 8th 130, 9th 120, 10th 110, 11th 100, 12th 90, 13th 80, 14th 70, 15th 60, 16th 50 Football Group stage; 1st place 40 points, 2nd 30 points, 3rd 20 points, 4th 10 points.
