COBIS Games Abu Dhabi 2014 - Football Rules
Football matches will be played at the Armed Forces Officers' Club Sports Hall & The Dome (Airport road).
All the games will be played indoors. The Dome surface is a 3G AstroTurf surface - No metal studs allowed. Moulded studs or Astroturf trainers only please. The surface at the AFOC sports hall is hard floor - trainers only please.
All matches are 6 a side. (Ratio 4:2 Boys: Girls).
Each team must always have a minimum of 2 girls on the football field at all times.
The goalkeeper cannot be changed in the middle of the game or in the event of penalties, unless an injury occurs.
The rules throughout the whole event will include the regular throw ins, corner kicks and goal kicks but each foul will be given as direct, a wall must be 5 steps back. No offside.
Goalkeeper’s area will be marked out. Any foul inside this area will result in a penalty.
If 2 teams have the same number of points at the end of the group stage then it will be decided on goal difference, if still equal then the result between those two teams will count. If that was a draw, then a sudden death penalty shoot-out will be taken.

If any semi-final or final game ends in a draw then the game will be decided by i) golden goal in 5 minutes of extra time, ii) sudden death penalties.
1 x Referee will oversee each game. COMPETITION FORMAT Each game should be 6 minutes each way with one minute for half time. Teams will play in 4 pools each of 4 teams – ‘round-robin’. Top 2 teams go into ‘Main’ competition; bottom 2 teams go into the ‘Plate’ competition. |
Scoring system:
Win = 2 points Draw = 1 point Loss = 0 points Teams are ranked based on number of accumulated points, if 2 teams are equal on points then the following is used to determine the higher ranked team:
